About

Thor Precision, Inc. was founded in 2009 as a family business supplying industrial gas turbine aftermarket components for customers in the United States and abroad. As its business grew, Thor Precision earned a reputation for quality, attracted customers from new markets and expanded its manufacturing operation. In 2017 Thor Precision enhanced its quality systems and manufacturing capabilities to produce engine and structural components for the aerospace and defense industry. In addition to achieving AS9100-D certification, Thor installed five axis machining capabilities and enhanced its ERP system with 3D CAD software to generate planning and manufacturing work authorization documentation. Today, its expertise is in the design and production of complex parts and assemblies utilizing advanced materials including high temp alloys and carbon fiber.

All gas turbine aftermarket services and kits conform to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Thor maintains its own Intellectual Property (IP) relative to part design, raw material, surface treatment (shot peen, plating, etc.) and Testing (NDT, Mechanical Testing, etc.), and maintains an extensive inventory of parts and kits with complete traceability documentation.

Thor manufacturing, quality and engineering professionals have 140-years’ experience in the aerospace, defense, power generation and nuclear markets, including direct experience with NASA. Its extensive climate controlled manufacturing and quality facilities ensure that Thor Precision exceeds expectations for quality and delivery while conforming to industry standards.

Our Core Team

PAUL PELINSKY – President

Paul has over 40 years’ experience in supplying bolting and consumable product to the Gas Turbine industry. The majority of his career has been in dealing with the largest global OEM`s in the industry. He has over 25 years in distribution and over 15 in manufacturing. Prior to starting Thor, he was President of a Greenville SC based manufacturer which was a major supplier of highly technical bolting to the OEM market in land based gas turbines. Supplying the OEM`s with not only production volume but also new product introduction which in most cases required “stretching“ industry available equipment and tooling often requiring the design and manufacture of special tools and equipment to guarantee produce-ability. Paul with his son Andy founded Thor Precision in 2009, initially as a consulting business for the Gas Turbine aftermarket and end users. In 2011 Thor opened a facility in Greenville, SC, stocking rotor bolting and consumable products for the major Aftermarket service shops providing stocking programs to reduce and eliminate duplicate inventories and increase profitability for our clients.

ANDY PELINSKY – Vice President Manufacturing

Andy has been involved in the gas turbine industry for over 15 years. After graduating from from the University of South Carolina (he’s an avid Gamecocks fan!), Andy learned the manufacturing processes for rotor bolting. While supplying very sophisticated rotor hardware to the OEM, he gained experience programming and operating CNC lathes, mills, and the highly-technical roll threading procedures. In 2009, Andy co-founded, with his father, Thor Precision. Thor initially was started as a consulting firm to the gas turbine industry. After numerous successful projects, Andy & his father decided to open their own facility in Greenville, SC, bringing to the aftermarket a much needed high quality rotor bolting source of supply. Andy currently serves as Vice President – Operations Manager and oversees the entire Thor operation. He has proven invaluable to Thor Precision in solving problems as well as holding Thor Products to a high degree of quality.

RODERIC BELLOWS – Materials Engineer

Rod holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Engineering degree in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and brings a wide range of industry-related engineering experience to Thor Precision. Rod has worked on assignments in the nuclear, steam-turbine generator, industrial gas turbine, and aero-engine businesses. His past areas of focus have included corrosion mitigation, NDT application, failure analysis, generator retaining ring alloy development; and in gas turbine compressor blades, rotor wheels, and rotor bolting. His experience has included time working with two rotor bolt manufacturers. During Rod’s career, he developed roll-threading methods designed to extend the life of dies and worked extensively with various innovative methods for rolling complex parts. Before joining Thor Precision, he managed a testing laboratory.

VIC SCHEUPLEIN – Quality Manager

Carl V. (Vic) Scheuplein has more than 40-years’ experience as quality leader in the government, aerospace and defense, power generation, nuclear and shipbuilding sectors and directs quality programs at Thor Precision.  Following service in the United States Navy in the nuclear power and maintenance program, Vic worked more than 34 years at the National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA), Marshall Space Flight Center.  At NASA, Vic led numerous quality programs and was Lead Auditor in the implementation of NASA policy for supplier compliance for IS0 9001 and AS9100 quality systems, part of the NASA procurement pre/post award audit process.  He also led development for outsourcing procurement processes and managed quality engineering which included requirements document creation, project and risk management, program planning and international agreements.   He is expert in managing quality programs involving high tech alloys, thread rolling, advanced coatings, heat treat, among other processes.

Vic managed quality systems and manufacturing approvals for every major aerospace/defense prime contractor and their major suppliers.  He is a IRCA Certified ISO Auditor for more than 19 years and is currently performing AS9100 secondary audit reviews.
